St Peter’s Church Rawdon and Craiglands Hotel Ilkley | Fiona and Joe’s wedding

September was a jam packed month for weddings and first up was Fiona and Joe’s gorgeous day at St Peter’s Church in Rawdon followed by their reception at Craiglands Hotel in Ilkley.

Despite autumn being just around the corner, the sun was shining and it was a beautiful start to the day as I made my way to Craiglands to meet Fiona and the bridal party for pre wedding prep. I had a little déjà vu as I made my way to the hotel as this was the venue that kick started my wedding photography career, assisting my photography tutor Steve in 2011. It was lovely to be back!

Fiona and Joe’s first date was to see Toy Story 3. They chose a loose Toy Story theme to their wedding, which included writing their names on the bottom of their shoes. Fiona’s said Joe and Joe’s said Fiona. Cute!

Everyone was in high spirits as Fiona, her mum and bridesmaids got ready. I fell in love with the bright vivid yellow of the sunflowers in the bouquets and corsages which were supplied by Bouquets Florist Bingley.

Before long, a vintage bus and bridal car had arrived it was time to head over to the church for the ceremony. I met up with my second photographer John who had been covering groom prep at the church too.

Many of the guests who were staying at the hotel arrived by the bus ahead of the bride. However, it wasn’t long before Fiona was arriving and the wedding was about to begin!

After a wonderful ceremony, the newlyweds chose to head over to the fabulous view point near the Cow and Calf pub with the stunning views over Ilkley as the backdrop. Despite the stormy looking skies, we made it back inside before the heavens opened.

We then headed back to the Craiglands for a few photos in the gardens and then onto the reception.

After the speeches and wedding breakfast were finished, the evening reception came along very quickly.

I made a customised Etch-a-Sketch inspired frame for guests to have their photo taken in – sort of an alternative to hiring a photo booth! It was an extension of the Toy Story theme and was popular as it got passed amongst the guests.

Soon it was time for the first dance followed by a packed dance floor as guests enjoyed the fabulous music from Rock ‘n’ Roll band Alex Graham and the Concords – who I was due to meet again a few weeks later at another wedding at Left Bank in Leeds. I said my goodbyes shortly after to let everyone enjoy the rest of the evening.
