Left bank Leeds | Harry Potter and fireworks themed wedding

With it being Bonfire Night tonight, I figured what better time than to share Becky and Ste’s sparkler filled wedding at Left Bank Leeds than today?

I was so excited to shoot their wedding, set in the Grade II listed former church in Headingley, Leeds. The building has such history dating back over 100 years, it ceased being a place of worship in 1995, is now a multidisciplinary arts venue and has been a setting for weddings since 2010.

Many features of it’s previous life are to be found around the building, including the stained glass windows and the old organ – which was found up a very steep and dark spiral stair case.

I was even more giddy to find out that they were also having a loose Harry Potter theme to their big day. The setting just screams of the Great Hall.

Becky and Ste decided against ‘getting ready’ photographs, so I met Ste and their guests at their venue half an hour or so before the start of their ceremony, while we waited for Becky and the bridal party to arrive.

As part of the Harry Potter theme and as an alternative to button holes, the very talented groom had handmade pins in the shapes of snitches from watch and clock cogs. The guest book was a Potter postcard wall for friends and family to leave their messages on, the tables were named after the books in there series and there were gold and burgundy colours incorporated into Ste’s suit and Becky’s nail colour choice.

You could tell that their hearts and souls had gone in to make every part of the day so personal with many of the touches handmade by these super talented pair, their friends and family. Their good friend married them and many guests baked cakes for desert.

After the ceremony and a few photos were taken outside, everyone headed back in for delicious Mexican street food supplied by El Katina followed by the speeches.

To signify the start of the night do, all guests lit indoor sparklers in celebration. Then it was onto a fun filled evening of dancing to Rock ‘n’ Roll/Boogie Woogie band Alex Graham and the Concords of which one of the best men is a member of.

It was a fantastic day, and to be fair my photos tell a better story than I can in words, so here are a selection for you to enjoy:
