Thorner Victory Hall | Rachael and Josh’s wedding

You know when you get one of those bright, sunny but cold autumnal days? Well Rachael and Josh’s wedding last November at St. Mary’s Church in Garforth, followed by reception at Thorner Victory Hall was just one of those days.

Rachael and Josh booked me a few months prior to their wedding. They said they were having a very relaxed kind of day. They had booked the church for fairly late in the afternoon, opting for a 3pm ceremony. The plan was after the church they would go to the reception venue and straight into the night do. I do’t think they had planned on speeches initially, but decided to do so in the end.

The Engine Shed, Wetherby wedding | Emma and Ed

A slightly belated happy new year to you all! I hope you had a fantastic festive season and you’re all raring to go for 2018! OK, so the weather is a bit rubbish and I wish the sun wouldn’t set so early, but spring is just around the corner and there’s lots of exciting weddings to photograph and look forward to over the next 12 months.

For my first post of the year, I thought I would look back at Emma and Ed’s Engine Shed, Wetherby wedding from last September.

I arrived at a local hotel for bridal prep, but Emma and her best friend were pretty much ready when I arrived. Many of the guests were also getting ready at the hotel and they popped by to say hi whilst I was there. Not bothered about any superstition about seeing the bride ahead of the ceremony, even Ed swung by beforehand.

Cedar Court Hotel, Harrogate | Mackenzie and Mike’s wedding

It was a beautiful August day when I headed to the Cedar Court Hotel, Harrogate for Mackenzie and Mike’s wedding day. Mackenzie was getting ready at the hotel with her mum and sister, Kennedy whilst Mike got ready with their children, who would join us later.

The couple incorporated a Disney theme, from the page boys’ bow ties and Mackenzie’s nails to the table centre pieces and the cake topper, subtle hints at Disney were everywhere.

Once the children arrived at the hotel, we suddenly had a very busy hotel room! The bride had the task of getting herself ready at the same time as making sure the children were ready too. It was all hands on deck, and despite lots going on, they made things look surprisingly easy. Everyone look fab, I loved the vibrant reds of the flowers and Kennedy’s dress, which contrasted well with the creams of the page boys’ and flower girl’s outfits.

Whiston Parish Church and Aston Hall, Sheffield | Ashleigh and Thomas’ wedding

I don’t know how I’ve managed it, but it seems the only sunny days we managed to get this July have all happened to be on days when I’ve had a wedding. Ashleigh and Thomas’ was no exception*. So on the third week of July I travelled to South Yorkshire to photograph their wedding. Their ceremony was held at Whiston Parish Church in Rotherham, and the reception followed at Aston Hall Hotel in Sheffield.

I met Ashleigh and her bridal party at her parent’s house for bridal prep. With four bridesmaids, Ashleigh’s brother and her parents getting ready, there was a lot to do. Throw in a couple of photographers, a videographer, make-up and hair people and a dog – we certainly had a busy household!
