The mour Hotel, Nottingham | Vicky and Dave’s wedding

My second wedding of 2017 saw me setting off to the mour Hotel, Nottingham (formally the Dakota), where I joined Vicky and Dave. Despite being early February, the sun was out and there was a feeling of spring in the air!

When I first arrived, I found Dave making the finishing touches to the ceremony and reception room. Such a warm welcome, his excitement was infectious as he was telling me all about the personal touches they had incorporated into their wedding decorations. The couple met through work where they are both prison officers, so they decided to create the seating plan complete with keys. I was worried I would get locked up!

They had chosen quite a rustic feel for their decor, which worked really well against the almost industrial backdrop of the Dakota Hotel room, with its dark grey walls and ceiling.

After taking some photographs of the room before the guests arrived, I made my way upstairs to meet Vicky. The whole bridal party were having a blast!

After spending just a few moments with Vicky and Dave, I knew that they are perfect for each other. You could see how loved up they both were and so excited to celebrate their wedding. I couldn’t wait to capture it.

Despite a shaky moment with a champagne bottle (the cork didn’t want to come out) it was a perfect day. I don’t think either of them stopped smiling all day.

After the ceremony we headed outside for some group shots. We kept things brief – it might have been sunny, but it was only February. One of the things I love about winter weddings is often by the time we head outside for some photographs, the light is perfect. Not too bright that you’re being blinded, so despite it being pretty cold by this point, the light works really well.

Then before we knew it it was time for the speeches and the wedding breakfast, before everyone hit the dance floor. I stayed for a little while before saying my goodbyes and let them enjoy the rest of the evening.
