It’s not every day I get to go to work in a helicopter, but ever so often, the car or train just don’t fit the bill I have to take the chopper. One such occasion was for Cath and Stuart’s wedding back in 2018 at the stunning Bowcliffe Hall Bramham near Wetherby.

Cath and Stuart’s wedding was in late September and it was one of those stunning early autumn days where the light was perfect, almost Mediterranean look to it and the conditions were of course ideal for flying. I met Cath at home in the beautiful Beamsley on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales for prep. They had booked a second shooter to capture a guests arriving and, because I would be travelling with Cath to Bowcliffe Hall by helicopter, to take photos of us landing.
Cath and her bridal party made their way to the Devonshire Arms a few minutes down the road to be picked up for the 30 minute flight to Bowcliffe Hall. And what a venue! Set in a 38 acre estate, the hall was built in the 1800s. It is a grade II listed building and is home to aviation pioneer, Robert Blackburn, a Yorkshireman who introduced the first scheduled air service to Great Britain.
The day went smoothly, very relaxed and fun throughout. We took advantage of the final moments of sunlight with a golden hour portrait shoot in those gorgeous gardens before heading back in to celebrate in style in the ballroom. Here are a few photos from Cath and Stuart’s marvellous day!
