I am not getting the chance to post many wedding blogs at the moment, wedding season is definitely upon us and I am just over a third of the way through this years bookings. It’s been an amazing season so far, taking me across Yorkshire and further afield. From the stunning backdrop of the Yorkshire Dales, to the olive groves of the Tuscan countryside*. With 20 weddings still to go before 31 December, I am very much looking forward to finding out what the rest of 2018 has waiting for me.
* more on my first Italian wedding soon.
Today I thought I would take a look back on Ann-Marie and Philip’s wedding back in April.
I first met Ann-Marie through my school friend Beth. She was studying at college in York together. I met her briefly on a visit to Beth at her student halls and I think on a night out celebrating Beth’s birthday. You’ll have to forgive my vagueness, it was a couple (hmmmmm) of years ago now.
I went on to shoot Beth’s wedding back in 2012, so I was delighted to hear from Ann-Marie last year when she was planning her own wedding.
Ann-Marie and Philip met through Philip’s sister. They went to college together and they met a few times. They finally got together in 2015 at his sister’s wedding.
Philip popped the question at the National Mining Museum down the pit. The tour guide has asked them if anyone had any questions. Philip had quite an important one he had to get of his chest. I’m not sure that’s what the guide meant, but hey ho, Philip got the answer he wanted!
The couple were married at St Austin’s Church in Wakefield. Having family connections to the church, it was the perfect choice. They opted for their reception at the grade 2 listed, King’s Croft Hotel in Pontefract. The building is set in 8 acres of landscaped grounds. They chose it because of the scenery and friendly staff.
The big day
Ann-Marie opted against bridal prep photos, so I headed down to the church around half an hour before she was due to arrive. As always, my photos tell a better story than I can in words, so here we go:
