St George Hotel, Harrogate | Amanda and Robert’s wedding

With May comes the full swing of wedding season. I kicked the month off in Harrogate for Amanda and Robert’s beautiful wedding at the Edwardian St George Hotel, located in the town centre. It was a handy location as both the couple and Amanda’s mum live a couple of minutes away by car.

I joined Amanda and her bridal party at her mum’s house, where they were getting ready, before getting picked up to go to the hotel.

The couple chose a mint green colour scheme, which was incorporated into the bride’s bouquet and the bridesmaids’ dresses and which worked well with the groom and his right hand men’s ties and button holes against their black shirts and pale grey suits.

It was a lovely ceremony and the couple wrote their own vows. I don’t think either of them stopped smiling the whole time! Soon we were heading out for the drinks reception and for some group photographs. It kept threatening rain – but it luckily held off.

I convinced Amanda and Robert, rightly or wrongly, to get some portrait shots on the hotel’s fire escape. Amanda thought I’d lost my marbles, but were happy to give it a go! I’ll let you decide if this worked or not!

Along with photos in the beautiful grounds of the St George, we snuck over to the steps of the Royal Hall theatre across the road. I kind of fell in love with the doors (I have a thing for doors – they frame photographs so nicely) and it seemed like an opportunity not to be missed.

I then took an opportunity to photograph the Wharfedale Suite before everyone sat down for the wedding breakfast. The room boasts an impressively stunning stained glass dome, which floods the space with natural light. Gorgeous! The mint colour scheme was carried through to the table settings and decorations.

After the speeches and the breakfast were finished, everyone retired to the lounge bar before the night do. Then it was party time!

They had ice-cream and candy floss being served and lawn games to entertain. Once the cake was cut and the first dance danced (the couple were joined very quickly by friends), it was my time to say my goodbyes and leave them to enjoy the rest of their day.
