The Sun Pavilion, Harrogate | Christina and Veli’s wedding

A slightly belated happy new year to you all! With the summer seemingly an age away, I thought I would remind ourselves of the cracking summer we had last year, and of Christina and Veli’s wedding in August at The Sun Pavilion in Harrogate.

The venue

I was super excited to be working at the lovely venue, set in the historical Valley Gardens. It was a venue I hadn’t worked at before, so I was very much looking forward to it. Keeps the creative juices flowing I think when I have a new location to go to.

I met up with Christina and Veli one balmy evening at The Sun Pavilion a few weeks before their big day, to have a nosy and scope it out. The venue dates back to the 1930s, the large spectacular Art Deco dome dominates main function room. They were hoping for an outdoor ceremony, and luckily the weather was kind and they got just that.

The wedding day

The day kicked off with bride prep at the Old Swan down the road. I had decided to get the train over from Leeds because everything was going to be centrally located and this also meant I could walk to the wedding with the boys, who had also got ready at the Old Swan, and get some photos en route.

It was so lovely to have an outdoor wedding, not the choice for many getting married in the UK. It mean the rest of the venue could be hidden from guests too until later in the day.

It was a fantastic day, which included some firsts for me (some great, some not so great): the best man serenading the couple during signing of the register and later during the speeches, the couple having money pinned to them by their guests, getting hit in the face by a football during a post dinner kick around, getting pooped on my a bird during group shots (that’s good luck right?) and finally after thinking it was a great idea to get the train instead of driving, getting drenched in an unexpected rain shower on my walk back to the station. So much for that good luck I received earlier in the day!

On the whole though, it was a blooming marvellous day and I think everyone in attendance would be inclined to agree!

Here are a few snaps from the day:
