Thorner Victory Hall | Rachael and Josh’s wedding

You know when you get one of those bright, sunny but cold autumnal days? Well Rachael and Josh’s wedding last November at St. Mary’s Church in Garforth, followed by reception at Thorner Victory Hall was just one of those days.

Rachael and Josh booked me a few months prior to their wedding. They said they were having a very relaxed kind of day. They had booked the church for fairly late in the afternoon, opting for a 3pm ceremony. The plan was after the church they would go to the reception venue and straight into the night do. I do’t think they had planned on speeches initially, but decided to do so in the end.

I met Rachael at home in Rothwell mid way through bridal prep. She was joined by her young daughter – who was a flower girl – bridesmaids, mum and friends.

Make up and hair were well under way when I arrived and everyone was in good spirits.

Before long it was time for Rachael and her bridesmaid’s to get changed. The bride’s and each of the bridesmaids’ dresses had their own personalised hanger. Names and the date of the wedding – a lovely touch.

Their baby son was to be a honorary page boy, and by the look on his face at bridal prep, he was very excited about the prospect!

Once everyone was nearly ready, I made my way over to the church to meet Josh and their guests arriving for the ceremony. The bridesmaid’s arrived shortly after I did, followed by Rachael and her Dad.

I caught a glimpse of a slightly nervous Josh before Rachael and her Dad made their way down the aisle. It was a lovely ceremony and the happy couple didn’t stop smiling throughout! The best man did drop the rings at one point, but we won’t really mention that.

After the vows, everyone made their way outside to congratulate the happy couple. We had a confetti shot – minus the confetti. But everyone cheered as the brand new Mr and Mrs made their way to the cars to the reception.

Once over at Thorner Victory Hall, it was straight into the night do. A buffet was served whilst everyone chatted and mingled for a while before the speeches. It was nice to see the bride giving a speech too. It’s becoming more popular. I tried to say a few words at my wedding, but only managed to say a quick thank you to everyone – I was just so nervous!

Soon its was time for the first dance, followed by a very busy dance floor as most guests were up dancing to the live band that played.

I stayed a little while to enjoy the music and get some snaps of everyone dancing before making a move. I thanked Rachael and Josh and congratulated them before leaving and letting them enjoy the rest of their evening.
