With this week’s weather turning the country into a scene more commonly found on the front of a Christmas card, I thought it would be a good opportunity to look back at Nicola and Scott’s festive wedding – complete with snow – last December at Weetwood Hall Estate in Leeds.
The Manor House and accompanying buildings on Weetwood Hall Estate date back to 1625. Several families have have owned the estate over the centuries and in later years has been a convalescent hospital for officers during the First World War, halls of residence for Leeds University and became a hotel in 1993.
Weetwood is very local to where I am based in Horsforth, so when I woke in the morning to a covering of snow and forecasts for the white stuff to continue to fall well into the day, I was kind of pleased my journey wasn’t too far! This didn’t stop me getting down bright and early to capture the grounds under the pretty festive snow.
Nicola and Scott were childhood sweethearts, meeting at school in Maths class. They sat together in class and Scott helped Nicola get through GCSE!
They got engaged at home on Christmas morning in 2016. Scott persuaded a reluctant Nicola to get up early and he got her to stand with her eyes closed in the living room whilst he played one of her favourite songs. When Nicola opened her eyes, Scott was down on one knee and popped the question. I think she said yes!
The couple chose the Weetwood because of its cosy fires, and having a winter wedding would ensure they could make good use of them – especially on the winter day they picked! They were both getting ready at the hotel, so there wasn’t much driving in the snow to be done
As ever, I feel the photographs can tell a much better story than my words ever could, so I leave you with a selection from the happy couple’s beautiful festive wedding. Check out the suppliers’ list at the end for inspiration. Enjoy!
