I was very much looking forward to Teresa and Des’s wedding at the Wood Hall Hotel and Spa in Wetherby last October. We first met a couple of years ago at a wedding fayre and hit it off straight away.
We arranged to meet up a couple of weeks later, on Valentine’s day, and ended up having a good long natter for a couple of hours before booking me for their photography and also an engagement shoot. You may remember their pre-wedding shoot on The Stray in Harrogate in April last year.
We talked about how the couple met – at a work’s do, where Teresa admits she didn’t really remember meeting Des. However, they got to know each other over the next few months through working together and finally, after much flirted, got together in September 2013.
Popped the question
Des proposed to Teresa in Salzburg. A very special place for Teresa as her Grandmother was born close to the city. One evening, before dinner, Des wrote a message in the steam on the bathroom mirror after his shower. The words were “I love you so much, will you marry me?” ready for Teresa to see when she went through to the bathroom. When she came back out, Des was down on one knee attempting to open the ring box! I think she may have said yes to his proposal!
I asked them what made them pick their venue. Their response was its views are simply stunning – plus it’s pretty close to their home in Harrogate.
Their wedding incorporated beautiful bold reds and blues which worked well for the autumnal colours of the hotel grounds. I think this was the first wedding where the groom had a top hat, which I thought was fab!
Another first for me too was that the ring bearer was of the winged variety. Teresa’s Dad is a big fan of Owls, so as a surprise to Dad and the guests, the couple hired Joe and his from Winged Ring Bearer to deliver the wedding rings.
I think that photographs tell a better story than I ever could, so without further ado, here is just a small selection from Teresa and Des’s big day. Enjoy!
